Foundation of the AAGL

Strategic Plan

Goal 1: EDUCATION

Advance and support education for residents, fellows, and lifelong learners. Provide scientific achievement awards to recognize abstracts submitted to AAGL Congress.

  • Provide grant opportunities to domestic and international fellowship programs to raise the next generation of minimally invasive surgeons and advance minimally invasive surgery worldwide.
  • Raise funds to support the Foundation Awards Ceremony acknowledging scientific achievements and excellence in MIGS.
  • Provide grant opportunities to support MIGS Simulation Research endeavors.

Goal 2: MENTORSHIP

Advance and support mentorship by providing awards to show gratitude to our ‘difference makers’ for inspiring, guiding and teaching young surgeons.   Advance and support buddy programs that offer mentorship to physicians in training.

  • Raise funding to acknowledge excellence and thank MIGS surgeons for inspiring, guiding and teaching others.

Goal 3: GLOBAL OUTREACH

Advance and support training and assistance to underserved communities, medical mission trips and fostering of international relationships.

  • Provide scholarships that allow physicians from underserved communities to attend the AAGL Global Congress.
  • Provide support to award winning surgeons, in developing economies, for taking what they learn back to their countries and teaching others.
  • Raise funds and provide grants for medical mission trips.
  • Partner with industry to seek medical equipment donations for use by Award Winners and other surgeons in developing economies.

Goal 4: PATIENT ADVOCACY

Support advocacy groups and provide patient education and awareness of MIGS.

  • Create webinar training for front line providers on MIGS diseases (e.g., Endometriosis, Fibroids, etc.) to improve patient outcomes.
  • Create scientific and educational materials to improve patient outcomes.
  • Support patient advocacy groups and empower patients to make the best health care decisions.
  • Create an awareness for women so on the day they need surgery they will know where to go.

We hope you’ll support our strategic plan, mission, and vision for improving women’s health.
